PAX Magazine Interviews Sandals CEO, Adam Stewart

1981 was a big year in Jamaica if you ask Sandals Resorts. Not only was this the year the company opened its doors to the first all-inclusive vacation of its kind, it was also the year its , now, CEO was born.

Adam Stewart, son of Sandals Founder and Chairman, Gordon “Butch” Stewart and CEO at 25 years old,  refers to the resort company as “almost like another sibling” when he recently sat down with PAX magazine for its September 2014 cover feature. Taking a deeper look at the young entrepreneur's  path to leadership , PAX magazine asks Adam to share what the journey has been like in the travel business.

It’s hard to describe it but it was almostlike the other sibling in our family,” hesays. “And the thing is that as you growup, your sibling is growing up too.”

Adam was raised in Jamaica beforemoving on to graduate from FloridaInternational University’s hospitalitymanagement program in Miami.Since then, he’s established himselfas a capable leader for the brandalongside his dad, guiding it into thenext generation of success.

Their roles are clearly defined, withAdam’s focus on running the propertieswhile Mr. Stewart’s is to market them.“He sells the dream and I executethe dream. We’re constantly crossingpaths and it’s a shared responsibility,”Adam says...
