Diving in the Bahamas Just Got Better at Sandals Royal Bahamian
The world’s largest single underwater sculpture, ‘Ocean Atlas’ is the newest attraction for Sandals Royal Bahamian guests looking to explore the deep blue sea in Nassau, Bahamas. Now, the Caribbean’s best scuba diving and snorkeling program features two underwater art exhibits with the newest addition in the pristine Bahamian waters.
Divers and snorkelers venturing to the Mari Nari dive site can expect to also explore the BREEF Sir Nicholas Nuttall Coral Reef Sculpture Garden on the western end of the island. As more sculptures are added to the exhibit, the dive excursion is available to group divers and snorkelers of all experience levels with a maximum depth of 25 – 30 feet below the surface!
This underwater art exhibit is one you can visit time and time again, as the Sculpture Garden, made from sustainable PH-neutral materials, will gradually transform into artificial reef that will attract coral and other marine life. The sculpture garden fuses art, education and marine conservation for a truly unique aquatic experience!
In a collaborative effort led by Bahamian artist Willicey Tynes, internationally renowned artist, Jason DeCaires Talyor contributed the Ocean Atlas piece. Weighing over 60 tons, Ocean Atlas kneels on the ocean floor and towers 18 feet toward the surface. Taylor has put hundreds of life-sized sculptures in Caribbean waters, including the 800-square-metre sculpture garden currently being offered to divers near Sandals LaSource Grenada in Moilinere Bay, Grenada.
