Sandals® Resorts took home the Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year gong at the 2019 TTG Travel Awards on Monday 16^th September, which took place at The Lyceum Theatre in London’s Covent Garden.

Fighting off tough competition, Sandals Resorts was crowned Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year for the sixth year in a row, after being nominated against other household brands such as Club Med, Jumeriah Hotels & Resorts and LUX* Resorts & Hotels. 

As well as scooping Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year, Sandals Resorts was just one-point shy of scooping the Supplier Sales Team of the Year award, receiving Highly Commended accolade. Sandals Resorts’ Business Development Manager, Neil Read, was also shortlisted for the second year in a row in the ‘On the Road Hero’ category which he won in 2018. Sandals Resorts were also shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Travel Company of the Year’ award at this year’s celebrations.

This latest award win comes after a triumphant 2018 for the brand, after being named ‘Travel Company of the Year’ at the TTG Travel Awards 2018, as well as Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year 2018. The company was also named ‘Best-All Inclusive Resort Operator’ at the Travel Weekly Globe Awards in 2019 for the 11^th consecutive year. The TTG Travel Awards aim to celebrate success by showcasing the highest standards within the UK travel trade industry. The awards themselves are widely regarded as being some of the toughest in the business to win, while the annual TTG Awards ceremony itself is one of the most highly anticipated each year. The majority of all categories are voted for by travel agents and the travel trade, whilst The Travel Company of the Year Award is judged by a specialist panel of senior team members from the TTG Media publishing house, along with other travel industry professionals.

Sandals Resorts’ Deputy Managing Director, Simon Foster, Leah Marshall, Director of Sales and several members of the Sandals Resorts team collected the award at The Lyceum Theatre in Covent Garden on 16^th September, alongside hundreds of other travel industry professionals. The awards ceremony featured a total of 28 categories ranging from ‘Responsible Travel Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Tour Operator of the Year’ to the new ‘LGBT-friendly Company of the Year’ accolade.

The TTG Travel Awards continue to bring the industry’s finest together each year at the highly esteemed awards ceremony, honouring the travel industry’s star performers as voted by TTG magazine’s readers. This year's deserving winners were presented with their trophies by TTG’s own Group Editor, Pippa Jacks and Managing Director, Daniel Pearce, alongside comedian Jennifer Saunders.
