Sandals Ochi Beach Resort Hosts Annual USA And LATAM Golf Tournaments

Sandals® Resorts hosted 120 travel agents from across the United States at the Luxury Included® Sandals Ochi Beach Resort for the 17th Annual USA Travel Agent Golf Tournament in Ocho Rios, Jamaica from September 22-26, 2019.

Attendees were treated to two days of golfing and gathered at Sandals Golf and Country club. A golfer’s paradise, Sandals Golf and Country club is one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in Jamaica. With its rolling hills and pristine location 750 feet above sea level, the course offers an unparalleled golfing experience in the destination.

The winning team of the two-day tournament included Junior Rodney, Rudolph Willis, Melissa Muender, and Angela Hopson, who received scores of 66 and 62 for a total winning score of 128. Additional winners throughout the tournament were Genith Toledo as the lady closest to the pin, Linda Hyde as the lady’s longest drive, Ron Wagman as the men’s longest drive and Thomas Ketchum as the man closest to the pin.

Following the first group of travel agents, Sandals Ochi Beach Resort was home to a second set of enthusiastic agents from Latin America for the 7th Annual Latin America Golf Tournament from September 26-30, 2019. Agents attending represented the countries of Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Perú, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica, Guatemala, México, and Puerto Rico

Throughout their stay, not only did attendees take advantage of an energizing game of golf and the resort’s picturesque beauty, but they also experienced firsthand a Luxury Included® vacation and sampled Sandals’ 5-Star Global Gourmet™ dining, offering cuisine and ambiance to suit every attendee. Most notably, attendees participated in an event hosted by The Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International, by visiting the local community of Ocho Rios and donating school supplies to a group of deserving children.

The champions of the two-day Latin America golf tournament, with a total score of 62, were Taryn Stanton, Carlos Stuart, Julio Tapiero and Maurizio Cannizaro. These lucky winners were invited to Great Exuma, the Bahamas for the 2020 Global Golf Tournament. Additional awards were given to the semi-finalists, the best-dressed team, as well as the longest drive for male and female and the closets to the pin for males.

Gary Sadler, Senior Vice President of Sales continues to stress the importance of events such as these for travel agents across the globe, as they are instrumental to the continued growth of Sandals Resorts International.
