Join the Sandals Foundation’s Island Impact on Your Next Vacation

The Sandals Foundation, the non-profit arm of Sandals Resorts International, has a new program called Island Impact that offers full-time high school students the chance to volunteer and earn community service hours while on vacation at Beaches Resorts.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages & Spa recently hosted 125 mom bloggers and their families at the second annual Social Media on the Sand Conference. High school teens, who traveled with their families for the conference, joined members of the Beaches Resorts Teen Advisory Panel (TAP) to participate in the Sandals Foundation’s Island Impact.

Chief Teen Officer of TAP, Sabrina Stewart, was there to spearhead this Island Impact initiative.  Stewart, along with the other TAP teens and high school students took a trip to Enid Capron Primary School in Turks & Caicos, and spent several hours painting two, sixth grade classrooms. The principal and students were very grateful that the volunteers were able to give these classrooms a much-needed facelift, making the local students’ school days a little brighter!

Participating teens received an official certificate for 10 community service hours, which they earned by packing for a purpose and bringing down much needed supplies, books and other beneficial items for the students, ages 5 – 11 years, along with their painting project. The service hours earned, are valid towards their high school graduation requirements.

Each volunteerism project is carefully developed by the Sandals Foundation and their locally-based partners to provide the greatest positive impact.
